Markella Ksilogiannopoulou (b. 2000, Athens, Greece) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans performance, video art and character creation. Through a blend of humor, conflict, and seduction, her characters become vehicles for exploring social issues that are both political and personal. Informed by anthropological research, Ksilogiannopoulou's art critically examines societal structures and dynamics, offering a reflection on the lived experiences of various social groups. Her practice underscores a commitment to political engagement, blending personal narrative with broader cultural critique.
She has performed at the Athens Biennale 'ANTI' on Panos Sklaveniti's work 'Cargo' and at 'Kin Baby' by Eva Giannakopoulou on 'FUTURE N.O.W" by the Onassis Foundation. She has co-created 'Kivotos Channel, powered by the Onassis Foundation and has shown her work at Allouche Benias Gallery at the group exhibition 'Rue des Fleurus, Athenes'. She has shown her performance 'Ride or Die' at Art Athina 2024 with Allouche Benias Gallery and has participated at the group show 'Murderesses' at State of Concept in Athens, Greece. She is a founding member of the collective 'Sinodi Papu' and a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts.
